The engine used no oil and the dipstick showed full at change. IOLM was at 4%. Car sits a lot in winter: the change was at 1 year from last one. I use Motorcraft filters.

What engine is that? What application?

Overall doesn't appear to be bad at all. Low contamination and low wear rates.

3.0 V6 in an Escape. Everything looks good. The only surprise is that the IOLM is at 4% in 6500 miles. I run very few short trips.

If I am not mistaken, this is the older Duratech engine; the 3.0L DOHC. Great engine overall. (not the same as the current 3.5L Duratech) This UOA shows things are just fine.

Be careful of this engine in the Escape. My sister had one of these and the EGR got stuck and then cooked both Cats; cost her an arm and leg to get fixed as those are right on the exhaust manifolds

Thanks for the heads-up. There are several quirky problems with the Escape. I changed the a/c dryer (thanks to a deer) so I don't have to worry about the dessicant disintegrating. I keep an eye on the transfer case oil level and use Syl-Glide paste on the hatch gasket to keep rainwater out of the lock motor. Those items aside, it's been a really good car.

I agree ^^^^^

The 3.0 duratech motor is a very good motor.

Yep, and Kendall GT-1 with it's titanium add is a good oil.

Good to see you around BBhero
