Axle code 86 for open diff. Manual says 80w-90 but no where in town carries a full synthetic 80w-90. Nowhere. I picked up two bottles of Lucas 75w-90 full synthetic.

Will the Lucas 75 work in place of the 80?

I'm not really the best person to answer this, but I'd absolutely run a 75W-90 where 80W-90 is the recommendation. However, if you want a full synthetic (I would as well), I'd use Mobil 1 or Valvoline, and steer way clear of any Puke-as products.

People have suggested I use full synthetic 75w140 in my class c motorhome, but the Dana 70 was made to carry heavy loads and the spec for it is 80w90. I am going to do one or two short oil change intervals (500-1000 miles) on it to clean it up good first using 80w90 conventional since it's cheaper, before a final fill of either 75w90 or 75w140 full synthetic. I'm thinking 75w90 to squeeze every MPG I can out of this thing, plus it's MUCH cheaper for SuperTech 75w90, about than half the price of 75w140. Who knows when the last time it had fresh diff oil, it could have been 30 years ago for all I know.

" I picked up two bottles of Lucas 75w-90 full synthetic" and it will work perfect I'm positive because most cars never even get diff fluid changed so any service is way above most others. I have used many brands including Lucas and really have not seen any difference.

Thanks guys I appreciate it! I have the RTV curing as we speak and I will be filling the rear diff with the Lucas 75w-90 full synthetic before work tomorrow afternoon.
