Latest Craigslist find. 2015 Toro Super Recycler SR4 20381 with the Chonda motor

Out : Unknown
In : Supertech SAE 30

Briggs and Stratton 5500/8500w generator:

Out: Rotella Gas Truck 5w30.

In: Shell Conventional 5w30. Short oil change and went to the cheap conventional since it's getting water/condensation in the oil, just going to run it on this until I get it clean and then go to RT6 5w40.

Craftsman LT3000 riding mower, 20hp Briggs single:

Out: 12 year old factory fill and years of top-ups. (Family's mower I volunteered to change).

In: Valvoline MST 5w40, was clearance at Walmart. Only got about a quart of the old oil out, have to jack up the one side to get it all out. For now just changed the one quart and the filter with another Briggs unit. I'll get it changed to RT6 5w40 later in the summer if it ever stops raining.

Well the Troy bilt got another, unscheduled oil change. Tank is siphoning into the carb. Filled the crank case and cylinder. Back in went the Duron.

Went to my aunt and uncle's yesterday to service the two generators they have since my uncle recently passed. Figured I don't know when they were last serviced so I hit Napa on the way for supplies and went on down to south Jersey.

-Honda EB11000 generator with a GX620 V-twin. 632 hours. Out: Unknown with an OEM Honda filter. In: 1.5 liters Rotella T6 5W40 and a Napa Platinum 47356 filter. The Napa filter was a bit smaller but worked fine, it was the one they cross-referenced for me. Also changed the spark plugs with OEM NGKs.

-Honda EU2000i generator. Out: Unknown, but blacker than night. In: Same T6 5W40. Changed the spark plug on this one as well. This one burns oil and smokes, being an old utility company unit I can't imagine how many hours are on it.

Interestingly enough my uncle converted these both over to run on propane so no gummed up gas issues to deal with. Only concern I have with that is I know that monster V-twin will use a 20 pound bottle in no time. I'm doing the lawn mower and snow blower next time I go down.

Craftsman 22" weed trimmer that was gifted to me. It has a B&S 675E series engine.

Out: Black watery looking stuff
In: 14 oz of Sears 4 cycle lawn mower oil that was on my shelf for years ( unopened.)

It has a drain plug with a 3/8" stab-in fitting that might not have been used previously used. The trick here is to give it a shot of penetrant, then using a crossover, use a 1/2 inch socket with a 3/8" extension give it the Ugga-
Dugga. It will come out. Drained the oil into a pan.

Honda GCV 160 on a 22" Toro lawnmower.

Out: Rotella T4 10w30 in not bad shape after about 24 hrs of cutting.
In: 13 oz of Motomaster semi-synthetic diesel motor oil rated CJ-4, made by Citgo.

Out: Mobil1 10w-30 High Mileage. It looked surprisingly clean for a break-in run.

In: Rotella T6 5w-40. The manual recommends 10w-30, but hey, this is BITOG!

Deutz-Allis 613 w/ Briggs 18hp opposed twin

I've been using Castrol sae 30 that I had wanted to change out before winter and switch over to a multi-grade oil in case I need to move the mower I didn't want 30w in there.

In: Shell RGT 5w30

I know that I'm probably the first one to use this oil in a lawn mower but had plenty leftover from the truck.

2000 Kohler CV 491 2 qts STP 10w30. Didn't mess with original looking Kohler filter. I have the drained oil in glass jars to see what settles to the bottom. Oil looks thin and smells gassy. 5W30 synth? Still brownish. Despite the mower's age, it has very low hrs. I'm going through it, mostly greasing/oiling /cleaning. Gonna be my first sit down with a cup holder

Got my hands on a Champion genset. Price was right. Had been sitting for over 2 years. Gas in the tank did not smell stale and there was some mostly black oil in the sump. A few pulls of the recoil and she came to life. It took a bit to clear the surging and it then ran great. New treated fuel, cleaned the plug, cleaned the air filter and drained out the mystery oil. In went GSUD 5w30 and ran the bowl dry, then parked in the back of the shed.
