About 2 months in service on a 2.5 Mazda 5. About 3k miles was a highway trip to S Cali and back. Oil was Pennzoil Platinum 30 weight. Looks good.

Refilled with more 30 weight PP and a PH3614

Nice.

This filter is around 6 years old right? WIX has been making their filters for at least that long I believe.

As noted this one manufactured quite some time ago, been at least five or six years since MG made by Fram.

The media looks to be thoroughly wicked? 5k miles in 2 month lots of highway miles, easiest for oil and filter. This one appears to have gotten the job done well.

Thanks for c&p.

LOL, I looked at it and was thinking who put a Fram in a Microgard?

Filter looks fine though.

Did Pennzoil make a SAE 30 Pennzoil Platinum, or are you saying you used 5w/10w-30 oil?

Looks like classic non-Ecore Frampion, I've used a few of those and they've always looked good. Like an Extra Guard that Fram remembered to put all the media in! The one endcap looks a little off center, but it's covered, so it didn't hurt anything.

Multiple rounds of Dollar Tree napkins to wick the oil. 10w-30/5w-30 old Kmart stash.

The filter is from years ago when O'Reilly had their $9.99 special 5 quarts of MS5K and a filter.

For similar pricing and similar craftsmanship, I would buy a Fram EG. At least then, you are also getting a silicone ADBV.

Not 7 years ago when this was made.

I think they made a good decision to go with wix to manufacture microguard oil filters..
This old fram made one looks better than a typical fram extra guard except for the classical sloppy fram offset endcaps. I have no confidence that these don't leak by at the seals. Almost always can see a less defined area At points around one of the seal impressions. That indicates an incomplete seal.

Why do folks cut open filters that are no longer in circulation? It's like telling investors of some fantastic stock deals that brought-in millions of dollars. But the stock broker that put together this investment package has been dead for the past two years.
