This is a general question:

Are we aware of any Dexos 1 Gen 2 approved oils that had to be reformulated for API SN Plus?

In meeting your Kia/Hyundai concerns....
The stronger certification of the (2) is Dexos1 Gen2. It's easier for the manufacturer to meet SN Plus, than Dexos1 Gen2. So many fly-by-night house brands nowadays can meet SN Plus

I think d1g2 has timing chain wear limits to meet specs. Funny as dexos is a GM spec and they have so much timing chains issues.

It (d1G2) does not have timing chain limits. It doesn't address timing chain wear at all.

From another post:

GM has developed four new engine tests for this updated specification:

New General Motors Oxidation & Deposit Test (GMOD) verifies the improved oxidation and deposit control characteristics.
New Stochastic Pre-ignition Test verifies the added protection for turbocharged engines and pre-ignition concerns.
New Turbocharger Deposit Test verifies the added protection for turbocharged engines and minimizes deposit formation, which ensures optimal performance during engine life.
New Aeration Test (bubble control) ensures the air bubbles in the oil dissipate quickly to improve oil performance.
New Timing Chain wear (stretch) test.

Yes, I saw that as well and passed along the same misinformation. There is nothing in any technical, official text echoing this. I believe Gohkan was the first to bring this to our attention.
