Hi-

Thinking about changing ATD on my wife's 2005 cobalt.

Not sure if it is worth the trouble.

Car had 215k, and had a tranny rebuild at about 170k.

I'm trying to make it last a little longer, but I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to fool with a change on a rebuilt transmission at this point (might jinx the car)

Anyhow, if I decide to fool with it, what brand of ATF and filter would be good? (I know GM sometimes updates fluid recommendations for older transmissions like this, but I don't have access to service data.)

Dexron VI or Maxlife. Used both in our Cobalt for its entire 315k mile life.

Original trans died around 30k. Used transmission installed and it lasted until 285k. Fluid changes done at 100k (Maxlife) and 200k (Dexron VI). At 285k, transmission solenoid failure, and replaced with another used transmission, which lasted until the car was in an accident at 315k.

Another vote for Maxlife

If your transmission doesn't have a drain plug, I would also suggest you get an aftermarket pan that has one
