Hey bitog.
I noticed that none of the major oil brands have 5w20 A5/B5 oil while all of the 5w30 do have A5/B5.
Knowing A5/B5 helps with fuel dilution, I hoped to grab an A5/B5 5w20 for the next scheduled dealer's maintenance and couldnt find one.
Can anyone explain why a5 is only available in 5w30 flavor?

Acea is run by the French, they don't usually run 5/20 weight. Typically they use 30 and 40wts

If it were me, I'd just run the 5W-30 A5/B5.

A5/B5 requires HTHS of at least 2.9, which no 0 or 5w20 can meet.

A1/B1 had an exemption for 0w20 and 5w20, where the minimum was 2.6, but ACEA dropped A1/B1 from the latest sequence and replaced it with C5.

Use a 5w30 A5/B5 smile

Except of course, Redline is not A5/B5, only "recommended for". Considering that the ACEA doesn't certify or approve anything (it is self-determined) it is especially amusing that they don't even try and make you think that it is A5/B5. but still use the recommended language.

In the US , only off the shelf PP5W30 and M1 5W30 list A5/B5 rating ...Castrol , Valvoline and Quaker State to the best of my knowledge do not .

It's not possible for a 5w20 to meet A5/B5 because it requires HTHS at least 2.9, which is impossible with a 20.

ACEA dropped A1/B1 in 2016

There is a new ACEA C5, which has a provision for 5w20.
