I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T AWD (LX platform) in my little shop; about 170K miles. Not the best maintained vehicle, I've been working my way through a variety of issues. Next up, front CV Axle replacement - the boots failed ages ago, grease long gone and outer joints appear to be binding (behaving more like a U-Joint than a CV Joint) when the wheels are turned to full lock.

The owner intends to keep the vehicle, and my inclination is to use either new or reman genuine Mopar parts, which when purchased on-line are certainly not Cardone-cheap, but not crazy like OE Euro axles. Does anyone with LX experience have any opinion about replacement axles on this platform?

Thanks.

See if Raxles makes them for your Magnum. By far the best reman axles out there.

Most reman and aftermarket axles are a sloppy rebuild, often just replacing the boot. Unfortunately, the new boot is neoprene, which is inferior to the OE thermoplastic boots

I mention this because torn boots are essentially the only cause of CV failure.
