Sold for $5200 (before eBay fees).

$7000 original asking price was too high.

I guess I'm just shocked that 7K is a ballpark Blue Book figure for an optioned 2017 Spark with 111K miles on it and apparent history....I might think that this was actually a vehicle that would be sold for what someone was willing to pay for it as ( although I don't think Spark's are bad cars ) the inherent cache is probably non-existent...and if it's not a facsimile of a CUV/SUV, it doesn't matter to many buyers.

It's an appliance to get you from point a to point b in comfort and reasonable style. What other 2 year old cars can you get for $5,500? You can't even get a 12 year old Tahoe pushing 200K for that money around here.

You may be right but I still think this would be a purchase that's not necessarily dictated by price as opposed to someone who wants to buy a "city car" rather than ( for example ) spending a thousand or two more for the equivalent of a used Versa, Accent, etc.with less miles. My neighbors are less concerned about getting 40 mpg in a city car as they are owning an CUV/SUV, sitting up high, and "being unique like everybody else".

Personally, I'd rather own a four year old car with 50K miles than a two year old car with 100K plus...and the delta in price between those two could be relatively nominal in terms of the "value vs. price" equation if someone's looking to keep it at least 5-7 years. IDK, considering the time it's been "on the lot", there may be some truth to that statement....

Which implies that it's still overpriced. It's a low end cars with a lot of miles on it. IMO, Blue Book is way off if they suggested 7K.

See what people are listing 2009-10 Corollas and Civics for with those miles. And none of those cars have the safety features of the late models like roof or knee airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, back up cameras, Onstar crash notification, etc. Show me another 2 year old car for $5,500 that isn't salvage.

A car is worth what someone will pay for it, not what other listings say. Good luck with the sale.

While that's mostly true, if few people even know the Spark exists, that can be a problem. These days most people have a couple cars in mind while shopping and search directly for them online. They would never come across a Spark during a search. In the old days before the internet, you had hardcopy advertising like the newspaper and Autotrader magazine that you could leaf through and find cars you never considered before.

The only problem is that you're implying that if people knew they could get a relatively high mileage "city car" that doesn't fly across the radar of most buyers that would change the dynamic and be just another option for the buyer...when sedans sales are down, "city car" sales aren't that popular, and you're assigning a particular value at $5500 that's not important to many buyers if they can "buy up" to $7000 and get a two or three year older subcompact with less miles.

The fact that I can get a two year old car for $5500 that isn't salvage is immaterial if the value proposition is spending ~$1500 more for something larger, with the same gas mileage, more interior space, that I'd likely be able to keep longer. I don't think $5500 has it priced wrong ( especially in relation to Blue Book ) as much as finding the buyer to spend it. On that count, I likely wouldn't be convinced that "Look, it's a Spark...did you ever think about a Spark??" and any "invisible' qualities associated with the Spark as a model are holding it back.

Sold my "city car" '11 Smart within a week of advertising it so there are many people still buying small cars. It's just going to take longer to sell a Spark that few people know exist. Still, I don't see how 2013-15 Sparks with similar miles and advertised for similar prices are selling. All I can figure is that buyers are limiting their search criteria to the older models thinking nothing newer would possibly be available in that price range. Reminds me of a couple years old Dodge Dynasty I had back in the day. Few people knew of them and it took forever to find a buyer, even though it was a very nice car.

Taxes are crazy. Almost as much as the house payment. No wonder they are so cheap.

Well, with 3 times the property tax rates of my area, I see why.
