What ATF are you running?

At 200k, a complete flush was done with Maxlife ATF. Unknown transmission service history before that.

Around 275k I expect to do a fluid drain & refill using Maxlife-- I'm not a huge fan of Maxlife products but if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

You made it look like you bought his Accord. At 240K even serviced at every 30K miles the transmission is on borrowed time.

make the inside of your engine oil cap white.
don't use.

I’ll say the later 722.6 MB transmissions are stout and can handle tons of power, just gotta watch out for those pesky $20 adapter plugs leaking, but quite an easy fix

Thanks, that's what I've been running for the past 90k. I'm going to Castrol HM next, just to see what difference a 8cst ATF will do in this transmission.

Cool thumbsup

I hope you get many enjoyable miles out of it smile

I'd be more afraid of the transverse V6 than anything

Daimler/Benz Nag1 or WA580 5-spd auto. Used in a few of their models from the Jeeps to I believe a couple of their RWD platforms. Great Trans.

They put that thing in everything from mild v6’s to wild SRT’s cranking out 470hp! I liked it way better than the 545RFE.

I never had the RFE flavors - my GC was an early 93 with the AW4, but yeah - the WA580 was an excellent unit. It was one of the best parts in my 2008 GC.

I would say that the vast majority of tranny's on late model cars are strong. A few duds here and there that were the subject of a few topics on this board, but far and few between. Of course there are some posters who believe any tranny with the initials CVT is by definition weak, but this is a free country and they can believe any old fool thing they want to believe in.

The Tiptronic ZF automatic in my passat was great, until is started acting up around 220k miles. Good is a relative term. How long are you planning to keep your car?

Jatco 4EAT transmissions used in a number of vehicles for a long time. My vintage 1995 F-4EAT in my Escort is still the original at 256K miles of mostly suburban driving.

Ford stopped using that transmission series. No more 4 speeds. I think everything now is going from 6 speed, to 8 speed , to 10 speed - like a bicycle!

Those 4 speeds had their share of issues. Some people had better luck with them, than others. They benefited from auxiliary coolers, deeper pans with cooling fins, and surprise, regular transmission fluid exchanges even though the transmission fluid was suppose to be lifetime fill.

So far, it appears people have had good luck with the 2000's era longitudinal Nissan(Jatco) 5 speed auto, as long as it isn't used in a heavy truck and has sufficient cooling.

Good luck with the Hyundai!!!
