Can't believe that there isn't a thread showing what a engine looks like after using Brand X oil being how passionate everyone is on this website about motor oil ...

If you got pictures of a valve cover off, or maybe a engine being torn down, let's see those internals and how they look!

When I had the driver's valve cover off a few months ago at around 45k miles. There was a leaking spark plug tube seal and a new valve cover with all the seals pre-installed was a couple dollars more than just the gaskets.

O it has lived on Motorcraft 5W50 and FL-500S filters. changed every 5K miles its whole life.

back in the day 70's i hung around a friends auto parts + engine rebuilding shop + would strip engines for cleaning + rebuilds. took one small block chevy apart + filled a pound coffee can with sludge, no info on servicing or not but i asked the owner if he used pennzoil + he said yes!! on the other hand i stripped my oil drinking 307 chevy at 75 thou + it was spotless internally on valvoline conventional 10-30 of the 70's, i prolly did changes at 3 thou with mostly local + short trips,

GM 2.4l, Ecotec, with GDI, 89K miles, on quick lube oil changes and following the bogus Oil Life Monitor. This was taken during a timing chain replacement. Thankful it only slipped a few teeth and did not destroy the pistons and valves.

That's what this thread is about as I'm unaware of any other thread that has been created for this specific reason.

My son drives a 2009 328i. The car has been run on BMW TPT 5W-30 or BMW TPT 0W-30 since new- with a minimum OCI of 15,000 miles/12 months; here's what it looked like at 108,000 miles:

318 in my D150. Unknown millage since the ode stopped working over a decade ago. 150? 175?
Over the years mostly Exxon Superflo, VWB, or QSGB.
I took the valve covers off to change the cooked valve seals. Its had a few overheat events in it's lifetime

Why do I sense a lot of Castrol use?
