Fits MB GLA/CLA 250

Interestingly, Mann has 2 filters for this application:
711/6 and 7044 and both are OEM filters (rebadged with Mercedes logo)

From their website
https://catalog.mann-filter.com/media/productassets/MFPI147_en_HU_711_6_z_and_HU_7044_z.pdf
Doubled due to great demand: HU 711/6 z and HU 7044 z
The vehicle applications of HU 711/6 z are widespread. That Ìs why MANN-FILTER now launches an additional oil filter element
.....
The two elements differ in the manufacturing process and the sealing concept. Whilst HU 711/6 z has foil
end-discs, the new HU 7044 z features welded plastic end-discs.
.....

I wonder what this exactly means - they see an increased demand and introduce a new filter with different end cap instead of producing more of the existing one

Does one cost more than the other? It does seem odd to make 2 different cartridge filters for the same application

And they even say no difference in actual filtration performance

From what I can tell the 7044 z is going to completely replace the 711/6 z.

Maybe a new engine it fits requires the new construction and is leading the change, or perhaps they're moving production to a different line/factory to keep up with demand and that line/factory is equipped for a different style of construction.

These filters are around $15 now on amazon/ebay, yet still available from rmeuropean for $9
https://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/2701800109-MFG63.aspx
the only thing is they used to have a free shipping with $65+ orders, now shipping is flat $7.5 regardless of the amount.
Still I got full box of goodies from them the other day and pricing is so much better than anywhere else, this shipping charge is nothing

Purflux L976 is also approved, which I normally find for a bit cheaper. From what Ive seen, Purflux used to make the MB factory filters, from the zig zag filter media. When the cars first came out it was dealer only for a bit and those are what came.

My model didn't have filters with zig zag model unfortunately, neither it had a fleece/synthetic media.
I've heard of Purflux but never used one, so far happy with Hengst and Mann. They all look pretty similar and I dont think there's a big difference
