His passing got me looking at old videos of the '83, '84 & '85 F1 seasons, when I was glued to the coverage on then new to us cable (ESPN?). I always admired his skill, persistence and ambition....and plain old guts. I cannot imagine the horror of the accident nor the feeling of getting back in a car competitively.

Long story short, I came across this clip that I remember from back in the day showing his and the others' skill as well as the relative capabilities of the three cars.

Lauda, Hunt & Watson "..Niki's finished his coffee..."

Thinking back now, it's a bit of a sad time. It's almost exactly one year since we had the pleasure of seeing Niki on live TV. He fell ill during last season's summer break and never made it back to the paddock.
