2 Million Mile Detroit Diesel

Friend of mine has a trucking company who just logged
2 million miles on a Detroit Diesel engine
He bought it new in 1996 Freightliner sleeper cab

Take a guess at which oil he used ???

True but as a long haul trucker driving over 85,000 miles per year, he could have saved a bundle by extending his intervals....

Mobil Delvac

Figured it would be that or Rotella. Not surprising, Doug Hillary put ~2 million Km on a fleet of DT 500HP units pulling trains through the Aussie outback and at 1.2 million (kilometers, not miles) one of them was randomly torn down and everything measured "as new". This was running Delvac 1 5w-40.

I'd think not
Just means he maintained he's trucks very well and Mobil served him well
I'm sure there's hundreds of truckers who used Rotella and Chevron with same results

2m is IMO not common. The series 60's I drove were all dead by 700k. They used Delo and changed every 15k.

But they were always in dirt or cement dust. Many dropped a valve which destroyed that cylinder.

The C12 Cats failed to make 200k under the same conditions.
