I went to WM earlier with the intention of purchasing Mobil 1 5W-30 for my mother’s 2010 Altima with the VQ35DE. Her car sees minimal driving and receives oil changes about every 6-8 months.

Of course WM was OOS on Mobil 1. Quaker State Ultimate Durability was on rollback for $17.97. Can’t beat that price for a 5W-30 “synthetic” that is formally approved for the latest specifications (SN+, Dexos1 Gen2).

If you don't get more power, can you return the oil?

Hmm, I'll have to give it a look/see. I have a $5 W*M gift card and could use some QSUD 0W20.

That is true marketing. You will get more power with this, COMPARED to anything higher viscosity and/or with less moly or other FM. So they are telling you the truth, if you compare it with only certain other oils that is. Partial lying? That's all we can hope for in product hype these days....

They do use a little more moly, which frees up more power: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4546402/VOA-_Quaker_State_Ultimate_Dur

I read on this forum that Sinopec makes all Shell products for the USDM. Not buying anything Shell. I need to help America.

Sinopec probably makes the Shell branded oils - - - for India, Thailand, and other SE Asian Markets.

Go tour the lubricants plant in Houston and then try to tell me that SOPUS oil products in the USDM are made by Sinopec, LOL!
