Is this a problem?

You got a teenage son who drives the car too? Looking at the tread wear on the tire edge it looks like someone has been cornering pretty hard.

Guilty. Who needs teenagers?
Actually, there are only 2 corners which I take at 25-35 mph.
Now , for the rest, I am not an aggressive driver, but not a sleepy one. As in , leave a green traffic light, reach posted speed, look 1/4 mile behind me and 3 lanes of traffic are still asleep ???
But when I'm in the left lane., I do keep up with traffic.

For the record, when sun comes back, I will take some pictures of the back tires (which do have some fine cracking)

CapriRacer, one thing of your statistics (and maybe a bad one for me): tires not rotated.

OKay, so tire replacement scheduled Today.

For the future, what brand+model would be recommended?
size (for now): 205/50R17
type: All-season/All-weather
important: grip + comfort + (Not super noisy).

SatinSilver,
(I estimate) 20k-24k miles. (invoice where I noted miles at replacement is somewhere in a box in storage)
Noise level: medium+
But Mazda5 is not really insulated. Driving on highway, usually need radio sound level of 27 and up.

Do you run dedicated winter tires? This seems to imply no, but I wanted to ask.

How much snow do you get/how often do you drive in snow?

(I've run snows on the Yaris before selling. Unbeatable in snow, than on weather on dry or over 50F, squishy)
Chicago/Chicago area usually gets 3days-1 week per winter with some jumps about every 5 years.
Usually gets cleaned up really fast..
Not driving much out of town when heavy snow falling.

Hmm, Costco available....

Update: I now have 2 Goodyear Eagle Sport on front. Probably shop inflated at 40 psi. Works for me now since the car may end up loaded couple times.
P.S. I chat them/Techs to get an explanation about the fine cracks. Didn't said anything about UV or local brine, but car may have been loaded. Which may have been true in two trips to FL.
I wonder if it was a combination of all 3 factors?
Tires usually where inflated to 36 or 38, while the tag specifies 34 psi.
