Has anyone had issues with the choke mechanism on these Webers? Basically after opening the throttle I am unable to close the choke by hand directly from lever on the carburetor. Sometimes I can close it. But most most times it is stuck open. Has anyone repaired these?

The easiest way to fix a Weber on an MG is to replace it with an SU(yes, I know a '79 Midget would have had a ZS, but I'd still take a ZS over a Weber any day).

Check your cable adjustment. Does carb need cleaning. Maybe a rebuild is in your future. Very easy to do. No need to change a Weber to something different. I've had one on my 71 B for over 30 years.
