I have had some spark noise in my radio for quite some time and knowing that this distributor cap design has had a history of "tracking," I replaced both the cap and rotor but there was still some spark noise but at a lower level.

The fix was to place a snap-on ferrite, RF choke on the the small, wrapped three-wire bundle that comes from the Spark Amplifier Module.

I hope this may help those with spark noise in older vehicles.

A friend had an '05 S-10 with a V6 (shortened V8, he said).
The distributor cap was full of tracking (changed it with the plugs) but the radio sounded clear.
More frame rust that I'd ever seen before.

The old GM 4.3 V8 is a SBC with one row of cylinders cut off. That's why it was offered in cars and trucks that also had an SBC available and why there are so many S-10 V8 swaps.
