About 4 months in a 2.5 Mazda 5 with Pennzoil Platinum mostly 30 weight

Media looks good as usual. ADBV came out quite supple.

Still have not opened an orange can with a media tear.

Is that an A32412 or A82412 code?
I am thinking it is A3 since it sill has the nitrile ADV, and they swapped over to silicone in the start of 2018.

Not bad at all for a filter made 6 years ago.

Definitely not 2018. Most likely purchased from Home Depot when they clearanced them.

I used orange Fram's in my 1981 Toyota Corona almost exclusively for the 17 years and 225,000 miles I owned it. Never once had an engine problem and it burned no appreciable amount of oil. OCIs were 3000 to 3500 miles -all city driving, downtown Chicago. It started life getting 27 MPG and got the same fuel mileage on the day I retired it. FWIW, the preferred oil was Castrol GTX or Havoline.

Yes, this was back in the days of conventional oil so the 3 to 3.5k OCI rule was in-effect. Every 2 years, I adjusted the valves but toward the end, they were always in spec and didn't need adjustment. The inside of the valve cover was stained a light tan/amber color. No sludge. No peeling or chipping varnish. 5qts of oil and a filter cost about 10 bucks. Those were the days.

Stu may have ran this one for 20K......lol
Filter looks much better than the oil. I have one on the Malibu and may switch the Colorado to the EG also.

The new batch of 3614s are silicone ADBV. Good bang for the buck.

PP and the OC ? A dichotomy of sorts ?

I'm sorry but for those who bash AC Delco it's because they both use fiber ends and nitrile ?

Same filter in my Toyota, great choice! Mine will have almost 8k on it when I change, if I have a cutter by then I'll have to open it up! Lol

Since my Tacoma has been retired from the majority of DD duties and replaced by the Buick, next oil change will likely be a full year but doubt I'll get close to 8k miles on a change by then.

That's more like it … doubt some of the other thumbs up folks use the OC …

Supertech still have nitrile. Fram EGs now do not (most-all anyways).
Too bad thre AC Delco deserted silicone ADBVs 10-15 years ago. That's when I deserted AC Delco.
