I find it amusing that the F150s and Super Dutys have cabin filters now. For so long they never did and people had meltdowns(literally) at the parts counter calling us counter people all sorts of names and questions our parents marriage status when we told them the trucks didn't have them.

BeerCan - do you live in a "normal" area? No significant dust from gravel roads, etc? It's encouraging to me that you've got 38k miles on the filter. But in one year, that's a LOT more than I travel. In theory, I could go nearly five years to accumulate that same 38k miles. However, I'd be concerned about mold in my filter due to the long exposure, not so much the miles.

My friend's '97 F-150 has no CAF from the factory.

However, there's a recess in the bottom of the glove compartment which the owner can cut out and, with further modifications and possibly a part or two, can retrofit a CAF. I read the instructions and it didn't seem too bad.

I do not remember the year breaks.
