Even after changing the filter my 2016 Mazda has that nasty "bio" smell. I'm thinking of turning the blower up on high and spraying alcohol into the air intake. Anybody tried this to kill the smell?

Obviously the doors will be open and there will be no open flames in the area

remove cabin air filter put on recirculate spray in the air intake and where the filter normally sits.

Try to get the "unscented" lysol.. the cleaner smell will go away after a couple days.

edit: the exact procedure can depend on where the filter is located etc.

if removing the filter leaves a giant gap(no door) then just spray where the filter normally goes (with filter removed)

Something is broken or plugged up.
Check for a plugged a/c weep hole in the ventilation system.
This will result in retained water and moldy ick smell.
You'll never get rid of the smell if you don't address the root cause...

This is spot on advice.

After verifying the drain isn't clogged, using Frigi Clean to clean the evaporator is the right way to do this. Also, many manufacturers have a feature called afterblow that can be turned on to run the blower motor for a few minutes after the car is turned off to dry the evap and prevent this from happening.
