Nothing difficult just time consuming taking care to not get electric parts wet .

Way too much work. Modern engines are pretty well sealed against water intrusion. Go to carwash. Spray engine with Gunk. Blast off with wand. Drive home to dry.

I just go to the self serve carwash, soap it down, rinse it off. I don't cover anything. Never had any problems. My engines look almost as clean as atikovy's.

Agree. I spray mine down with Simple Green straight from the bottle on a COLD engine. I then hose everything with a garden hose and nozzle at city pressure. (No car wash or pressure washer).

I then use compressed air to blow everything dry, and get as much water out of the nooks and crannies as possible. Wiring and alternator included. I then fire it up and run it until it's hot. After that I hit the rubber and plastic with whatever protectant I happen to have on hand. (Usually Armor All). 1991 F-150 with 187,000 miles.

Looks great ! I bet in AZ if you don't keep on top of it the dust can really build up pretty quick

It really can. Especially this time of year when it's the driest. It's not uncommon to go as long as 80 days without rain from late April or May, until the Monsoon Season starts in mid July. By June the roads get really dusty with no rainfall to wash them clean.

The job can be made easier if you use SIO2 based trim protectants. Gyeon Preserve is one example. Using anything oily like Armour All will attract dust and dirt.

I applied 303 Protectant to my engine cover after the last cleaning as a test to see if it attracted grit. Happy to report that it doesn't.
