Do they have some sort of stigma as a cheap phone in the US? They aren't that cheap here in Canada.

Yes.. LG is a budget phone, if you will. Sort of on the same level as an HTC phone.

I had an LG phone before there were actual touch-screen-and-do-everything phones. My LG phone had three actual raised buttons on it, and it was not touch-screen. Even then, it had a larger screen than an iPhone 4. It held up great, and I used it for at least three years. Then Samsung effectively took over, and everything Android that did not say Samsung on it became a budget phone, in effect.

That's like saying GM is a budget car line. I think LG pretty much competes with Samsung (and many other brands) at a wide variety of price points. Think the new G8 runs close to a thousand.

Having uses both... E5 Cruise has a horrible microphone and no separate loudspeaker. The LG is a much better phone. But if you are going to get mobile hotspot, only E5 Cruise is supported.

I Don't know much so figured I'd ask. He talks, and texts mainly and occasionally checks his yahoo mail.

Thank You

Mine always rings (currently rings the theme from The Medium TV Show.
Mine always voices something when I answer it, unless I forget to bring my hearing aids.
Mine always dials correctly, unless I'm dialing in the dark.
Mine always lights up, when the battery is charged.
Mine always gives me the correct time and lies about the weather
Mine always continues to work when I drop it. But sometimes it takes me a long time to find all the scattered parts.
Mine will accept your calls. But it may not call you back.

I have the LG Ultimate 2 L41C. Paid $99 for it in April of 2015 and it still works like new, even the battery lasts as long as it did when new. I do use Tracfone and have the triple minutes, costs me $20 every three months although I just bought 1000 texts for $5, my wife kills me with text messages all day.

Before that I had a LG slider that worked great with no issues, my next one will be an LG.

I have had 2-3 LG phones in the past (actually still have them, just not using them).
They are OK phones that will do what most users need (make calls, text, e-mail, video calls, OK pics and videos, listen to music, maps/directions and most apps etc).
They do not do well if you are into gaming on the phone, but for most people they do work well.
Just not the prestige of an Apple, Samsung or other "high end" phones.

The ones you usually get for cheap from Cricket (where I got mine) are usually 1-2 years old, and they were about 1-2 years behind flagship phones as far as performance.

I had an LG in the form of a Nexus 5X. It always worked but was a bit clunky to use......scrolling, tapping, etc. The camera was nothing short of fantastic even in extremely low light conditions.
