About time to change the oil in my Jeep. Summer is almost here. Temps will be 75f @ night and 95f-110f in the day.

I have traveler sae30 .
Chevron sae30.
Super-S 10w30
Carlube 10w30
Carlube 5w30
Valvoline durablend 10w40

Filter will be a proselect 21515.

The Jeep consumes the carlube 5w30 more than I would like. It really runs quiet on sae30.

Which motor?
2.4 or 4.0?

If the 4.0, I would try the straight 30 again, or maybe the Durablend (that is some older oil, been a few years since they made that). I always had good results with Durablend.

If the 2.4, probably try one of the 10w-30 (Super S since the other one in 5w was not nice to you) to see if than helps with consumption

Chevron. Stick with your local Californian oil producer.

Why even change viscosity when in California where it doesn't get very cold.

We don't get the havoline. We get Chevron instead. It has the 4.0.

I bought about $100 worth of Shield Choice oil (formerly TropArtic) from the local Orscheln chain that had it on sale for $1.69/quart last Friday.
My three 4.0 Jeeps love it! Sorry you don't have that chain there.

I happen to have a couple different ones is all. It's on sale or clearance I buy it

Valvoline 10W-40 durablend!

10W-40 worked out good for my 94 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0. Had over 325,000 when it got impounded, and the state took it. The impound was a case of unauthorized use, and I did not want to prosecute.

Wow, someone basically stole your jeep(taking anything without express consent is theft), and the state won't return your property that was stolen?
