Good afternoon folks. Before posting some filter porn; friend that volunteers at food bank asked me to ask you folks about LG phones. He's looking at Cricket and at a LG Harmony 2 and a Motorola E5 CRUISE.

I Don't know much so figured I'd ask. He talks, and texts mainly and occasionally checks his yahoo mail.

Thank You

I've had an LG phone before not a lot good or bad to say about it. I don't believe you have to have all the latest bells and whistles though. My Samsung S4 is 5 years old this month I bought it when they just released the S5 I bought the phone for $200. Its five years old now and I've had to replace the batteries in both mine and my wife's phones. That was both batteries for $13 at Amazon. This is the deal I currently think is a very good deal.

Its was a better deal two days ago at $299.99

You might also look at the Samsung J7 another reasonably price alternative.

right now they have the galaxy s9 for $329 if they can afford it.

otherwise look up each model and check reviews.. nothing wrong or right picking LG.. look at exact models and sometimes the cricket model is a clone of another more popular model with another name.

Johnny: I mentioned this to him; he's had battery issues as I also have i.e. battery doesnt last a whole day. Which is why I'm getting rid of my galaxy s7 soon.

Good to hear sir

I just got an LG Fiesta 2 last month, for $50. Best battery life of any phone I have used. Great bang for the buck as long as you don't need the latest bells and whistles or the greatest RAM and storage. (though 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM is fine for me.) Not sure about the Harmony, but when I was looking at phones, reviews of LG models said much the same. Good basic product for a good to great price.

Who is running this special on the S9?

Do they have some sort of stigma as a cheap phone in the US? They aren't that cheap here in Canada.

Yes.. LG is a budget phone, if you will. Sort of on the same level as an HTC phone.

I had an LG phone before there were actual touch-screen-and-do-everything phones. My LG phone had three actual raised buttons on it, and it was not touch-screen. Even then, it had a larger screen than an iPhone 4. It held up great, and I used it for at least three years. Then Samsung effectively took over, and everything Android that did not say Samsung on it became a budget phone, in effect.

Either one will be capable and pleasant to use for basic smartphone use such as texting, web browsing, watching videos, and casual taking pictures or videos. I have a Moto E5 something and it's been quite impressive for the price. The LG is identical or better in specifications, in particular its 32 GB of flash instead of 16 is significant.

The US practice with prepaid carriers is to sell a phone cheap but locked in to them at least for a while, so they get their money through service.

Love my Moto E4 + cause the battery lasts forever. Also fairly straightforward Android. Had LG before last two Motos , would not rule out. Neither good nor bad experience. Think glass cracked. My kids without money buy expensive phones. I have $ and am a cheapskate.

I've had both. I've become a Motorola fan boy because they take some serious punishment. I've had the a couple of the E4s, and just last month got the E5 go ($40). They are nice phones for the money. Then stick a prepaid plan to them, you can often find the cards on ebay for $30 a month on Verizon.

I would take the Moto again!

Have an LG G4 and it works very well. Wife has a Samsung S9. Mine will keep up with hers and mine has a 16MP camera and takes great and beautiful pictures. Has great sound too.

Some older phone (i.e. Nexus 5x) had boot loop problems (along with the low end Huawei like Nexus 6P). Moto is usually a better bet if the price is about the same.

Cricket. (who the OP mentioned)
you have to port in a number.

Also Google for today only has the pixel 3 for $399 you have to activate on google fi service but there is no requirement to stay there.

it's kinda a personal preference/experience thing..
until this phone(Pixel 2) i've only ever had Motorola's or LG's, with a definite Moto preference.
the LG's are the one's I've had the most problems with...

at the same time, i have a friend whose experience has been the exact opposite...
her LG's have been Rock Solid Dependable, and her Moto's have been the crappy troublemakers...
