anyone have experience with these? the local welding store sells them, but claims lots of problems and was pushing me towards a Norstar ACDC 200 Inverter

I thought the "square wave 200" name went with Miller Machines?

Maybe my ignorance is showing.

Did you try the weldingweb.com forums?

(I have used the Miller machines, and personally have an Everlast 211si that is flawless in operation)

You might be thinking of Miller Syncrowave. Squarewave is definitely Lincoln.

I don't know anything about the Lincoln machine but prefer red or blue equipment.

I would stay away from the Lincoln and towards the Miller Syncrowave. I have both and the only one that has ever needed service is the Lincoln. If you are looking at Gas or Diesel portable machines on a welding rig/truck, go Lincoln, in a industrial fab/ maintenance shop with electrically powered machines, go Miller!

I was mistaken, my Lincoln is the Powerwave 350, but I will not be spending another 10K on another Lincoln.
