I would love to own a first generation SS454 Monte Carlo but they are out of my price range these days. I didn't even know they made one back in 87 when I bought mine and it wasn't until I got the internet in about 1999 did I discover they made them.

Never should have sold the S2000....

Indeed, you should not have sold the S2000. And your 1974 TR6....those models had the massive "bumper boobs".

Scott

PS Thanks all for your contributions.

Yes, and my second and current "bumper boobs" TR6 is ~200 commissions numbers from my first ever car which my Father and I did a minor rehab on.

Hey, I only purchase cars that interest me. Luxurious, fast, high mileage... Always unique in some way.

I'm currently mulling some very bad decisions... Two British, one Italian. Which will I pick?

Do tell. I'm pretty good w/ bad automotive decisions, let me help

Probably made within 3 or 4 of days of each other. My '71 was the last of the high compression motors. I did put a '72+ intake manifold on it, which breathed much better than the earlier ones.

This thread needs more pics of the memorable ones. Current and first Tr6.

wings&wheels, thanks for the pictures. Your current TR looks very nice! Very nice. Wasn't that color called "Magenta"?

I bought my '71 in San Jose, CA from a postal delivery woman. Darrell Sue Bxxxxxxx. I'll always remember her name. She was a cute little thing. She had a Corvette previously, which was stolen IIRC. She bought the TR as a replacement but ended up not liking it. I bought is just out of warranty. It had just over 12K miles on it. To you young folks, warranties on many cars back then were just 12 months/12,000 miles. I proposed to my wife in that car. It served me very well.

I sold it to my best friend when it had 156K miles on it, back in 1985 (I sold both the TR and my BJ7 Healey for a V12 E-Type - big mistake). My TR was one of the most reliable cars I ever owned. I never had any problems with it. My best friend still has it although it no longer runs because it's sat in the garage under a cover for 20+ years. It looks just like the day I sold it to him. It has flawless original paint and a 95% interior. He's offered to sell it back to me for what I sold it to him for - $6500 - but I have four cars already, and only a 3 car garage. I feel bad enough leaving our Honda Element outside.

The TR6 was a great machine. There have been several for sale recently on Bring A Trailer. Prices seem very reasonable to me.

I forgot this one (and I do not know how): Alfa Romeo 146 1.6 Boxer. That thing had 105hp, but gearing was sooooooooo good that it would obliterate 50hp up similar sized cars. Though, max speed due to that reason was only 182km/h.
I got Sienna bcs there is nothing more practical than minivan for family purposes. No one wants them anymore, so used prices are much better than comparable Highlander with same engine, tranny, platform, AWD, but Highlander is much smaller. With Sienna purchase I can save more money to get myself BMW 335i or Audi S4. I kind of narrow down to those two vehicles, with stick shift, of course.

Shannow, interesting machines. I had to look them up to know what they were.

bullwinkle, the 1965 SS....Nice!

Mcompact, as you said "1974 Monte Carlo(seriously modded- really)".....I laughed and started to vomit at the same time. Until I saw this picture. You know, it looks kind of nice.

Smiling at all of you,

Scott

1987 Nissan Stanza
1997 Isuzu Rodeo
2003 Kia Spectra
2005 GMC Yukon XL
2006 Chevy Trailblazer

A few others that weren't technically mine but drove and took care of them.

In order of purchase:

89 Chevrolet Cavalier 4dr - Gutless 4 cylinder and 3 speed. Got me through college and early marriage.
97 Ford F150 Supercab 2wd Flareside 4.6 V8: The one I'd get back if I could...
88 Jeep Cherokee 4.0l 4x4 - Was it an AMC? Chrysler? Tough to tell...
99 Ford F150 Supercab Flareside 4x4 - Good truck
97 Ford Explorer 4.0 SOHC 4x4
04 Ford F150 Supercrew 5.4V8 4x4
07 Ford Explorer 4.6l V8 4x4
16 Ford F150 Supercab 2.7 Ecoboost, 4x4

The ones in bold I've still got. Been driving since 92. Driven a lot more stuff over the years, between work, rentals, friends, and a cash job in college moving cars for dealerships...

First one was a 2004 ram 1500 in 2005, then a 2008 F350 6.4, 2010 Ram 2500 5.7, 2012 F350 6.7, 2015 F150 5.0, now a 2018 F150 3.5 ecoboost. If we are including wives vehicles, 2005 dodge sx 2.0, 2006 f350 5.4, 2012 elantra, 2013 fusion

1986 Ford Ranger 2.9L, (owned for short time when I was 15, bought from my grandpa then sold it)
1996 Chevy C1500 Silverado 5.7L, (my real first vehicle. Loved that truck)
1997 Toyota Camry 2.2L (Bought to replace my truck due to poor mpg)
2004 VW Beetle TDI (given to me by my aunt, turned out to be junk)
2000 Toyota Camry 2.2L (still have, I let my brother drive it. This car is ridiculously reliable)
1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L (was my grandpa's, he bought in 2007, I bought it from him in 2016, I will own it FOREVER, despite the ridiculous repair expenses it requires)
2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L (Great daily driver car, has been excellent so far.)

edyvw, this would be enough for me to be wary of the 335i. Ridiculous.
