Yesterday, I was at my local Walmart, and the new CK4 formulation of Super Tech 15W40 was stocked on the shelves. It appears that the new CK4 formulation is making its way into Walmarts as the inventory of CJ4 is depleted.

Below is the technical summation of the Super Tech 15W40 CK4 PDS from Warren Distribution:

Gravity, °API ASTM D287 31.37
Specific Gravity @ 60°F (15.6°C) ASTM D4052 0.8688

Just bought some and seen it is ck-4/sn so this means it has the lowered zinc and phos levels correct? I will be looking for a new non sn rated ck-4 for my old IDI.

Actually with the info from Riley's post above the zinc and phos should both be around ~1200ppm after converting the weight percentages to ppm? Am I wrong in thinking the SN rating forced it to be around 800ppm?

A percent is 10,000 parts per million; so, to convert the phosphorus level of .115% to PPM, multiply .115 x 10,000 = 1,150 PPM.

Excellent, it appears the zinc and phosphorus are still at good levels than. I picked up some delvac 1300 ck-4 because it was cheaper than the ST but than I looked on PQIA and its zinc/phos levels are down around ~800ppm, I took it back and exchanged for ST again.

I understand your concern about the lower phosphorus levels in Delvac 1300 Super, because I was also concerned. However, I believe the Ford phosphorus scare pertains to the 6.7L Powerstroke, and I further believe the issue is actually a design and/or metallurgy issue with this specific engine. Since you are running a Navistar built 6.9L, I would not be concerned about using Delvac 1300 Super 15W40. Mobil currently has $6/gal rebate on Delvac 1300 Super 15W40 at participating retailers (see Delvac website for details). Catch it on sale and combined with the rebate the price/gal is hard to beat. Super Tech 15W40 is $9.64/gal which is a good price for a decent conventional CK4 HDEO.

I finally got some st 15-40 ck approval. I'm really happy so far it doesnt have dmax tick with st like with rotella t4, t6 doesnt do it. Ima send this st for 30$ for 3gallons...fram filter 40$ oil change I'll take it.
