I tell ya what Subie
You call it
Is there a filter you'd like to see cut open and I'll do it just for you
You pick !ðŸ‘

Well I'm an M20x1.5 kinda guy, and there are never any Baldwins. If you're up to it, that would be awesome. But if all you got are some virgin and/or used Motorcrafts, that's fine too. Popping your cherry is the important part!

While I know it is possible for some manufacturers to have "bad" filter models, I believe that overall, cutting open any filter will give you some insight into that manufacturer's belief in quality. It's part of the reason I've migrated almost exclusively to Napa Gold filters. I don't think I've ever seen a "bad" Napa Gold spin-on cut open on this site. That's why my vote for board member of the year always goes to 53' Stude for his innumerable contributions to the board knowledge base on filters!

Important part: Have fun! Life is too short to not enjoy it.

My cherry got popped about 1975 thank you sir
But that's another subject for another day

I'll have to order a Baldwin and I'd be glad to do it
Nobody around here stocks Baldwin

But your right about enjoying life, when you do what I'd do everyday you'll appreciate living

Give me your Baldwin filter number you'd use so I can order the correct one.

Congrats. You're one of the "enlightened" now! I love having one, I cut every single filter that comes off my own junk, and lots of filters for curious friends.

+++

Been interesting having one a few years now … It has moved me to moderately priced filters after years of only reaching for the more expensive … Have only one of those left on a vehicle now … Going to pay less

Go to any local oil change shop and ask for the nastiest filters they have....

I want to see how "Average Joe NON-BITOGERS" are abusing their cars by neglect......

Not long after joining site, got the similar Summit Racing filter cutter as a gift. While it works ok, my biggest compliant as pic shows, smaller filters like 7317 hit the wheel bar not the wheels. Topic cutter wheels are different and perhaps they may have moved the wheels closer together, which would fix the issue. Later, purchased made in Taiwan HF exhaust cutter ~$15, now discontinued. Still working great. Congrats on new cutter.

I have the same Summit filter cutter and ran into the same thing you did Sayjac. I was thinking of unbolting the beam from the end piece and hogging out some metal between the wheels with a die-grinder to make clearance for the smaller filters. Probably would take less than what I show below. Hope you don't mind me showing how with a snip-it of your photo.
