hello guys

I have an Europe (sweden) BMW 535D 2009 , stage 2 remap with DPF removed and EGR OFF in software.

I know A3/B4 has a little protection benefits against C3 oil? Higher TBN and "high saps" ?

So im thinking about using an LL01 A3/b4 instead of the recomended LL04 oil.. But is there any more benefits with LL04 C3 oil than that it is DPF friendly? Like less soot in engine or better internal cleaning?

best regards!

Go for a C3, especially one with MB 229.51 or VW 504 507 never mind you don't require one, unless it costs you an arm and a leg.

Unsure what your oil prices are like in Sweeden. I know Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 can be picked up quite cheaply here in the UK if you shop about. I've just purchased some for less than £20/5litres. It'd be an ideal choice for your engine!

ACEA C3 has to meet the same wear limits as A3/B4 so I'd doubt you'd notice a different BUT that said, A3/B4 oils are generally cheaper.

ACEA C3 wear limits are tougher than for A3/B4 in the diesel wear test (OM646LA), as well as having stricter piston cleanliness and sludge limits.

Which is not as stringent as factory requirements.
C3 or A3? Irrelevant. What matters is BMW, MB and other factory approvals.
OP< I would personaly go for Castrol Edge 0W30 C3., not because it is C3, but because it is really, really good oil.

So would I. The Castrol security data sheet shows a big percentage of a PAO base oil.

Next to Super Car, it is only PAO based oil.
