So I have a quick question that has crossed my mind every time I read a GDI fuel dilution thread. Since gasoline is a solvent wouldn't a small dose of gasoline in the engine provide some cleaning effect at the expense of wear?

Just want to quell this constant ? that rolls through my mind.

Question: Have you experienced leaving fuel in a carburetor for an extended time without a stabilizer?. The lighter components evaporate leaving gum and varnish requiring cleaning. I did this in several generators and lawn mower

There are already specifically made detergents in oil to deal sludge and varnish build up. Fuel is too volatile and harmful to the oil in anything more than very small amounts, causing breakdown of viscosity.
