In the very limited research I've done, it looks like one with the analog gauge and a switch you hold down for 10 seconds is good enough for me. I'd probably use it maybe 10 or less times a year total. What is a decent brand that I don't have to worry about burning out or randomly going bad out of the blue?

I had mine from Harbor Freight for a while and it is working.

Not using it that often though but for less than $20 with coupon and cheaper on sale with coupon, it is a good deal.

I got a GRIP brand one at Meijer's a few years back for $17.50. It is identical to the HF one, except for the name. Works fine.

I have a Schumacher BT-100 for the last 5 or 6 years that has worked fine for me so far.
I think it was about $25-$30 on Amazon at the time.

I bought the Harbor Freight one for $20 I find it does the job just fine and it's just as accurate as the professional grade digital testers in sniffing out weak batteries. Just be sure to let it cool for a few minutes between 10 second test periods.
