Yes. A new drop in engine is $33,000. To repair this one with other things it needs will easily reach 15,000 (new lifters, complete seal kit, turbocharger, oil cooler, timing cover, primary egr cooler and egr valve plus some other small things). The camshaft alone is over $1,000. If I fully strip this block and instal new liners, pistons, rings, bearings etc along with machine work it will reach that with ease. When cams wear like this it puts ALOT of fine metal throughout the entire engine and it must be stripped and block must be hot tanked to remove al the debris from the lube passages. These engines are expensive to repair. But as I said the machine shop should be absorbing a majority of the cost. I'll find out Wednesday
