if i remember right. a few years ago i saw a easy coolant filter. that used a reg fuel filter mounted in the coolant over flow tube. is there one like that? or did i wake up from a bad dream?

There seem to be only a few engines that have a reputation for retaining a lot of sand from the casting process. Those engines see a benefit from a coolant filter by the way of longer water pump life. Do you think you have an engine that has this rep for retaining a lot of sand?

If you want a coolant filter then buy

Wix 24763 filter base, and Wix 24069 (27 micron) or 1" longer 24070, then get what ever barb size you need to 1/2" NPT.

I installed one, on my jeep as with countless flushing I still had stuff floating in my coolant with heat cycles, so I plumbed one in before the heater core(https://i.imgur.com/fTp0w1d.jpg)

The line to the coolant tank has flow in both directions so a better method would be the line going to the heater core as mentioned above.

I'd worry about those metals in this filter adapter with longer life coolants that might not be compatible with this material. I'd be more inclined to use an aluminum filter housing. Honestly though... I wouldn't worry about it, regular spill/fill's on the radiator never failed me. I usually drive to the scrap yard with original water pumps and radiators hundreds of thousands of miles later.
