Ravenol DXG 5W30 D1G2 VOA

5 pages and you still haven't provided a way to understand the batch numbers- and neither has Ravenol. I told you the batch number is a 17201 number, which falls between the two batch codes provided by Ravenol (and referenced by you), which says my jug has a batch number in the correct range, and has D1G2 stickers on the jug. For my purposes, it is an SN-rated oil and nothing more.

I'm not trying to be obtuse, and especially because I don't need Dexos in the first place, it doesn't really matter to me if it's G1 or G2, and unless I can find a listing of batch numbers or Ravenol replies to my email, the jug and Oil Analysis say the oil meets my needs.

Do they even offer the 5L jugs in Europe/rest of the world??

Ravenol can only say that everything is fin. Nothing is confused, you just have a curve lab .... bla bla bla bla.
Your car needs only PAO and nothing else.

Ravenol hasn't even responded with a "no answer" reply. I'm really kinda disappointed. It appears to be a good oil, but if they can't get labels right and won't respond to inquiries, how good can they be?

Purely conjecture but perhaps this is a big screwup on their part, they're scrambling to figure out what to do and have decided no answer is better than the real answer....

Or....their customer service just sucks...lol

Their customer service does suck. My experience with Ravenol refusing to provide an SDS is a perfect example of this.

FYI I also got somebody from Germany involved and it didn't help. I still never got the document.

However the underlying issue with the oil could be this ^^^ or they are ignoring it because it can't be explained away. They only thing Ravenol can do is attack the credibility of the test.

If they do continue to ignore Mr. SRR, then I would get a second test done by a different lab. That way there isn't any plausible deniability on Ravenols side.

Even if they refuse to comment, at the very least they should offer you a return and/or free product for your trouble.

In the end this VOA was a bit of a eye opener and a disappointment. There had been previous comments regarding Ravenol with inconsistent batches. While those could be interweb gossip, this analysis does add to that scenario. Their customer service or lack of it so far is not helping either though I would be willing to give them more time to respond.

In the end, my interest in Ravenol oils has diminished.

Ravenol REP

I used that stuff for a SUMMER OCI once (a bit too thick for my winter OCI use) before they had the good deal thinner by HTHSV (supposedly?) new D1G2 formula DXG available here.

NOT a 'long drain' oil, but pretty great stuff otherwise, if within one's viscosity needs.

Yeah, this IS disheartening, but I do want to try their PAO/POE 0W-20 DFE formula for next winter's OCI, once it is finally available HERE, as I cannot see it being any worse than the supposedly majority PAO base stock, M1 0W-20 EP in the sump right now.

Did someone say they are no longer going to bring DFE here? I contacted them last summer and was given a crazy quote to import it and they said it should be available by Fall of 2018 in the US. A few months ago I believe someone here stated they spoke to RAVENOL and they were told they decided not to bring it to the US.

As for the VOA.....Either way, this situation looks bad. Either they are dishonest and knowingly put the wrong oil into the container or so disorganized they didn't realize they put the wrong oil into the container. Either one is not confidence inspiring.

Still haven't heard anything from Ravenol. I guess this thread and the VOA was good; since Ravenol's batch numbering system is not clear at all in how to interpret it, and their documentation doesn't match (one notice says September 2017, one says October 2017 began the D1G2 oil), and mine was bottled before that but had a batch number and stickers that show D1G2 it was good to let everyone know about this.

However, if you were to buy a bottle of this bottled in late 2018 or early 2019 I have no doubt that it would indeed be the correct mix. Like I stated before, my vehicles don't require Dexos1 at all, so it doesn't really make a difference. I'll use it in either the Outback or the Odyssey and not have any worries about either vehicle.

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't be too worried, either. This is up to GM to police. PQIA really wouldn't be interested, I suspect, since, as mentioned, dexos1 is a GM problem, not a PQIA problem, and determining dexos1 Gen 2 compliance by VOA alone might be even more troublesome than just trying to verify SN/GF-5 and SAE J300 compliance.

Hi guys!
I ask you to forgive me in advance - I do not know much and speak English.
I don't know much about motor oils, but
In this VOA sodium 357 ppm - so it should not be for oils with the approval of Dexos1Generation2. On this topic there is research company Infineum:

"...The next test assessed a formulation containing a mixture of 0.159% calcium and 0.042% sodium. Here the mixture almost doubled the LSPI activity when compared to the effect of calcium alone. This implies that sodium is a more aggressive LSPI promoter in the presence of calcium..." - https://www.infineuminsight.com/insight/nov-2016/quenching-low-speed-pre-ignition

And the tendency is such that the amount of calcium (in modern formulations Afton certainly) is reduced on average to 1500 ppm, and this decrease is replaced by magnesium.
Not for nothing, the representatives of this company have actually been expelled from the Russian oil-forums, since this pseudo-German company with deep Russian roots constantly "muddies the water" with its oils.
There was even a steady idiomatic expression - ravenolit', an approximate analogue of your expression "make a mess". )))

Well, or we must pay tribute to the staff of this company for the invention of "unique recipes"!
With respect to all participants!

I don't know, as I have not seen that thread.

But when I spoke to the Ravenol 'specialist/orderer' at Blauparts about 3 weeks ago, he told me it will probably be shipped in on their 2nd next big order from Deutschland, in about 3-4 months time.
