Do mechanics ever take their car to the mechanic?

I've known a couple of mechanics who owned older/beater cars, and then went and bought new ones b/c they were sick of wrenching on their own stuff as well as at work.

My mechanic is inundated with slightly older Subaru's local dealer drop off to get work done on older used models they know will get snatched up.

He's a Subaru expert and charges me $65/hr and keeps my 07 MDX going.

I never send anything to someone else to fix...on vehicles that's panel and paint too. I don't fix electronics these days, they have become unrepareable and throw away...which annoys me. I used to work with a guy who took his car to the garage down the road for repair - we were truck mechanics, and he didn't like working on cars.
