Are there any protective door edge mouldings that do not trap moisture and dirt?

I don't know if this was from the factory or dealer-added, but my Jetta has some relatively thick, clear 1/4" wide door edge guard applied at the door edges. I'm guessing it might be dealer added. they had added (allegedly) $3000 worth of garbage to the car; but then didn't try to charge anything extra for it. not sure why not.
I bought a roll of inexpensive, read cheap, door edge molding at AZ for my truck about 5 years ago. It has a light layer of adhesive in the channel and has held up well. No dirt or moisture between molding and doors. I have a block wall In my garage and have to be careful of hitting the wall when I open my door. It has protected my doors from numerous dings over the years. I measured then cut it and it follows the contours of the doors. It's thin, unobtrusive and almost unnoticeable.
