I purchased a pair of vintage ESM-2 MKII cheap with blown tweeters. So I'm making a project of restoring them. I searched for two days and could not find much information on the MKII version of the ESM-2. There are quite a few differences that are worth mentioning. I had an original pair of ESM-2 way back, like 20+ years ago.
Looks like a completely original set, never cracked open. Even came with the original box with matching serials.
Worth mentioning, these cabinets are very well built. There are two layers of bracing inside, one right below the woofer and one right above. I am really looking forward to hearing these.
Woofer: Dark textured cone, rubber stitched surrounds.
Part #: PL8C3, 4DR51735
Tweeter: 1 inch soft dome
Part #: PL82C, 5DR51570, Vifa D25TG-55
Crossover: appears to be unique to the MKII. Three capacitors and resistors, nothing crazy. I'm going to replace the capacitors with new Solen brand poly caps.
Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure and to help others that may run into the same version in the future.

I spoke with Jean @Solen.ca and he recommended the following drop in replacement:
https://solen.ca/products/speakers/home-speakers/tweeters/d27tg3506/
Perfect dimensions, specs match up nicely, and I've heard nothing but good things about this tweeter from reviews I've read.
Then as a project I'll tear down the old Vifa tweeters and see what can be done with them, if anything.
Thought I would post this for any other audio Bitoger
