1978 John Deere 950

Picked up a John Deere 950 before Christmas for mowing my 4 acres and snow plowing duties from a private owner in NE Ohio. Changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter, went with Donaldson filters. Had Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 on the shelf so that's what was put in it. Tested antifreeze and it was good down to -45F so that was left alone. Hydraulic fluid looked good, may change that this spring/summer along with the screen filter.

1868 hours on the tractor and it rus well.appears to have been taken care if well.

We have an 850 down at the farm for mowing.. which deck do you have?

Bought a used 6ft Land Pride finish mower for the rear PTO.

not familiar with those.. we have a deere 261 rear deck. 60" in the fields ...Its about all the 850 will handle.. relatively large tractor but still only 25hp or so. For comparison the 46" on the 316 can bog down some in the same conditions.. usually having to mow wet grass due to real life time constraints on when we can get down there to mow.
