Take the truck for a long test drive and let the Mrs see if she likes to drive the truck. 26,000 miles is a used truck.

It was obviously the dealer's utility truck or delivery vehicle or something. That's a lot of mileage for a 2018 though, strange.

If it was titled to anyone before you then it is used, not a demo.

My work truck is a 2017 F150 XL 4WD Crew Cab with the 3.5 normally aspirated V6 (reduced to 3.3 for 2018). It is adequate for running around from job site to job site and hauling tools. I put the transmission in Sport mode the second I get in it to get the most out of the engine. I wouldn't want to tow anything bigger than a small utility or tent trailer with it but otherwise it is fine. My personal truck for comparison is a late 2015 F150 XLT Super Crew 4wd with the 2.7 Eco-Boost and there is a very noticeable difference in power between the two but otherwise they operate similarly (both having the 6 speed auto transmission).

It looks like the only engine for the new Ranger is the 2.3L EcoBoost.

My employer has a fleet of Ford pickups, three of them with the engine that you mentioned. It will do fine.
Compared to an older V8, the idle sounds a lot different and the torque curve is not the same, but that engine will do fine, especially for an "A to B" vehicle.

Spend a little more and get a 2.7 ecoboost. The 400 lb/tq @ 2750 rpm will make it much more enjoyable and you get the 10 speed auto that the 3.3 doesn’t.

Perfect motor for the 85% use case of a pickup sold in America, one person hauling a bed full of air.

My last work trip to Colorado I had one for a rental. XLT 4x4 crew cab with the 3.3L. It did perfectly fine on the flat, but really had to rev it when I got up in the hills. Here in TX, it would probably be fine for most people.

Problem is, people hear an engine rev up and they think it's being overworked. Need to downshift more than once in the hills and it's inadequately powered.

They’ll discount the purchase price but probably not enough to make up for it. Someone will like the color and buy it.
