Abu Dhabi marks the end of our 2018 Formula 1 Grand Prix coverage. On behalf of myself and TOV Motorsports I would like to sincerely thank everyone who reads these posts and participates in the discussions; we've had some good conversation and debates this year.

Another season already down the tubes.... Where does the time go?

Autosport has a bit of an interview with Bernie just posted in the last day or two. Between his new goatee and the glasses shape and the jacket, I swear it was just Eddie Jordan aging 15 years.

Verstappen has one last chance to take a pop at the "Youngest polesitter" record.

Interesting all other teams are letting their moving drivers take part in their respective tyre tests after the GP, except Red Bull with Ricciardo. Anyone would think they are bitter about him leaving.

See the news about Kubica getting a seat for next year. Shame he'll be in one of the tail-end track sweepers. I suppose they needed some real experience to pair with Russell. Sirotkin hasn't exactly covered himself with glory this season.

Sirotkin also lost his backing. SMP was complaining about the performance of Williams. If SMP could do better, they can pitch an entry to Liberty Media.

I hope Williams has a better upcoming season. I was happy with Paddy Lowe coming in, but Rob Smedley is leaving, and that's disconcerting. Maybe he's shell shocked.

I wonder if he wasn't pushed? Williams haven't made many smart decisions recently. I'd love to see both them and McLaren get out of the hole, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised. It's not like there was any announcement of him jumping to another team and going on gardening leave in the interim. He says he wants to stay in F1, and that's about all that was said. Gary Anderson, as much as pundits are worth, thinks Williams has a better chance at turning around quickly than McLaren. He feels McLaren has jumped off in way too many oddball, non-racing directions as of late, whereas Williams is still primarily an engineering focused team. So, hopefully, it's just a few bad mistakes on car design, coupled with maybe not the best financing, as opposed to McLaren's delusions of grandeur.

It's interesting to note that the TV people and Autosport people are no longer lumping McLaren in with Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull as the big money teams.

Credit where credit is due. I agree with you. I enjoyed seeing Montoya there. Shadows of what might have bee.

My dad is actually attending this and visiting my sister in Dubai at the same time. It will most likely be the last race he sees in person.

I think he got to see pretty good show, Stevie.

DeepFriar: When Ricciardo was being interviewed before the race, I thought I saw Montoya, but wasn't sure until later. You see that shirt and hair, even from behind like that, and it's pretty obvious who it is.

Now, what I have to do with the season being over is go to my F1 streaming service and watch each of Lance Stroll's starts from his onboard. Despite his generally underwhelming performance, he almost always makes up a whack of places at the beginning. Maybe he just hammers the throttle and closes his eyes and hopes for the best.
