I can only imagine how many formula changes the M1 has made in all those decades of use … but was always good for 10k and clean engines …

No doubt there have been several, but M1 oils always seem to do the job in my 40 years of using their oils.

How are the timing chains?
While that area of the valve train looks clean, the rest may be the same or maybe not. I would not base any decisions on what you see in that picture.

You should stash more so you don't change formulations, like me. You don't change brands; I avoid changing lot numbers.
