On Day 2 we drove down to Baxter, which was the farthest south we'd previously traveled on this trail.
I'd replaced the badly-stretched chain on my wife's bike before we left, and it skipped a bit on relatively flat Heartland ride, so I bought a cassette at Easy Riders bike shop in Brainerd and replaced the old one. The fellows at the bike shop were great - they invited me in to wash my hands after I'd done this work in the parking lot, and gave me some citrus/pumice hand cleaner as well. Great service!
We then cycled the PB Trail extension from Brainerd to Crow Wing State Park. Wow, just beautiful. On the way back, I broke my chain, which I posted about a few weeks ago. Only 45 km on this day, but a great workout with the hills.
