Ever had a transmission fail? On what vehicle?

2004 Volvo XC90 T6 @ about 70k, replaced under warranty thankfully.

My brother in law gave me a 1999 Ford Explorer that already had a bad transmission. It was still drivable, but had some weird shifting issues, apparently caused by a broken intermediate band. There were a few chunks of it sitting in the transmission pan. It had 219k miles when I got it and I have no idea how long he'd been limping it along like that. I figured I could limp it along a little further and maybe get it rebuilt in the next year or so. Turns out it had many more issues and wasn't worth fixing, so I parted it out and scrapped it.

1956 Chevy , 1992 Explorer each were automatic and went without any warning .
