Another little guy off the Subaru STI, at 13 months and 3750kms (2350 miles).

Rotella T6 5w40 out, Mobil1 0w40 Euro in, same filter.

That's quite a bit of detritus in the bottom of the can for 2k miles... I'd personally be going with a higher efficiency filter. XG7317 or 3593A depending on available room. No additional warranty risk with an XG since you're using a non-recommended oil anyways.

How do you like the STI?

Yeah the oil looked pretty dirty, I'll send it off for a Blackstone report.

I should probably clean and oil my air filter soon.

Car has been great, no problems, I've had it since day one in 2010.

I haven't heard of very many STI owners using anything but the OEM filter. The whole 23 psi bypass thing. I have come across a couple alternatives but I still have 3 more of these left.

Napa Gold 7055 has the correct bypass rating for Subies.

Motorking (Jay from Fram) has said the XG7317/3593A are endorsed by Fram for Subies because of the much higher flow capability of the Ultra media.

That's totally believable, and it's what I like to use as my "main argument" when debating the whole stupid-high BPV rating topic
