Dexron vs Type F ATF in Power Steering

I run Mercon V ATP and Power Steering fluid in both 240's (GM Type II pump), and DEX VI in the Highlander. Both 240s have a Wix in-line filter. No issues. No squealing at -20 startups.

Mola, just out of curiosity, why have we seen the switch in PSF type fluids from F to Dexron types, where ATF is suitable? Is it just having what a customer is likely to have on hand for the ATF for the vehicle in question?

I think that is it and because the later ATF's are more stable in many ways.

Thanks, Mola, and that makes sense to me. Having F around for PSF when everything else was using Merc/Dex for transmissions wasn't the most convenient, and I can sure as heck seeing someone using the wrong top up in the transmission. And there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of more stable, recent formulations.
