Bought a new 2013 Accord v6 in July of 2013. Changed the oil at 5,000 miles and every 5,000 miles thereafter. Total mileage 100,000. Just traded for a truck. My Accord used no oil (that I could tell). Never smoked or leaked oil. No unusual noise.

Lived in metro Atlanta and extreme northern Alabama.

Every oil change was with Mobil 1 0w40. Recommended oil is 0w20.

Not recommending you do the same. Just saying.

What kind of truck did you get?

Okay, no proof that my Honda would not have done as well on Crisco oil. Yes, I just traded... well, a month ago. Pics of old and new attached.

Needed a truck and had limited garage space. Didn't want to leave outside. Honda was in great shape, although a timing belt was due.

Your post seems to reek of a pro thick oil argument. Ive used all types of oil in mine 0w20, 5w30, 5w50, 0w40..never used or burned any oil...so i think its safe to say im not pro thick or thin. I think most oils will work well. Nice rides!

Our bought new 2010 Honda Element SC with the K24 motor has just under 180K miles on it. 4K to 5K mile OCIs for its entire life. Either 5W-20 or 0W-20 used in the cool season (never truly "cold" here), and 5W30 used in our hot summers. The motor uses about 1/16 a quart between changes, and I think that loss is from evaporation.

FWIW,

Scott
