Changing to a different type of coolant seems to have fixed a leak on my car?

Since a few months ago i've had a small coolant leak on my 1988 Escort, it was on a generic brand of conventional green IAT until now ( which is in fact Pink ) and it every day leaked a bit of coolant from either the thermostat housing, or the fan switch sensor, i don't know exactly from where.

10 days ago i switched to a VW G12++ meeting Silicated OAT ( see the stuff in the expansion tank on the pic below ), it continued leaking as usual for a few days but has strangely stopped for nearly a week now.

Odd isn't it? any theories? it had leaked pretty much non stop for 2-3 months, although it was a small leak and had little or no effect on the coolant level.

I don't have any pics of the leaking area itself so have a pic of the glorious 1.6L SOHC 8v Ford CVH injected by the Bosch K-Jet injection system which basically works via witchcraft and black magic.

Maybe some of that witchcraft and black magic has bled over into the cooling system?!???

BTW, that's as clean a looking Escort as I've seen in a longgg time!

Nice job!

Don't get your hopes high, the leak will be back. Anti freeze will not fix a leak.

Right!
IDK whether you did a D&F or full flush but, something has gotten in the way of the leak(s) but, it'll be back.

I've spent a lot of time cleaning it up, was a mess when i bought it.

Best looking Ford ever. How did you get your engine bay this good looking?
Hate to confess but I used one of them Radiator Weld liquids 4 years ago. Done 20000km without issue.
Carlube brand.

It seemed to always leak when i came back from work, strangely though i have never seen it leak or drip with my own eyes so i guess it was or still is weeping from somewhere.

Lots and lots of engine degreaser spray.
My method was to spray the degreaser and rub all tue areas that were dirty with a paint brush to loosen it, then rinse it off with water.

A month and a half since i switched to the G12++ Si-OAT now, the leak has still not re-appeared, surprisingly.
I have a very small weep of coolant from the cooling fan temp switch which is threaded into the thermostat housing, just enough so it's a bit wet on the bottom of the switch where it is threaded.
