I can't do sportbikes or most cruisers. Standards or adventure bikes are good. I'm sure I could enjoy a Super Duke. The Super Duke GT is high on my list for what to buy next, if I need to get a new bike.

As far as the looks people talk about, I buy bikes to ride, not to look at. With all the constraints to satisfy for a bike to be well suited to my use, there isn't a lot of room left to worry about how they look. I like my current two. No V-twins, but both are close. One is a saggy V-twin (boxer), the other a 270-degree parallel twin, so it has the firing sequence and feel of a 90-degree V-twin, even if it's not.

Yep, buying it. 2011 Sportster 883, 2100 miles, that someone put about $3000 into accessorizing. Paint-matched side panniers (not black, very dark maroon), 2-up seat and backrest, crash bar, windshield, and the full Daymaker 3-light setup. Just needs a set of Kuryakyn Longhorn highway pegs and a tach.

Don't have it yet. I will need a day off work to tag it. By then, the weather may have turned too cold/bad for riding.

Makes sense. Can you keep it on non-op until spring?

Sportsters are nice bikes. You can dial in the suspension with Progressive drop-in springs for the front and new shocks for the rear and make it ride really nice. That looks like a 1200Low, but I would install longer travel springs that will give it a little more travel, but raise your height off the ground. But anyways, rough ride is the most common complaint w/Sportsters.

Looks of ways to improve Sporty's ride.

S or R model shocks are great fro solo rigs.

Progressive shocks work well and are available in many lengths to get whatever ride height you want.

Road King air shocks are good, but you need to break them down and install Honda CB900 internal springs (both bikes us the same Showa shock body) to get the best ride smile

It's actually an 883 Super Low.

Phill and Phill, they built the very best motorcycle possible at the time...the detail of their engineering is stunning.
