Will food go bad in a Vacuum chamber? - TKoR

Havn't watched it, but yes, it will

If it isn't sterile, anaerobic bugs will get it. If it is sterile but has active enzymes and some moisture it'll probably autolyse.

If its dry (ideally freeze-dried) it'll probably be OK.

But you can leave a McDonalds french fry in that crack between the driver's seat and the center console and it'll look the same in 10 years as when it was freshly cooked.

OP was about food.

Pulling a full vacuum at room temperature will result in all the water boiling off. There is no chance he maintained a full vacuum on the foods the entire time they were stored.

The result will be "freeze dried" foods, which will last considerably longer.

Walking the dog, in the country. There was a tossed out container of chicken nuggets. Opened it, poured out the nuggets. Dog would not eat them. Left them. Yes, I collected the trash to dispose of properly. Buzzards in the trees, Next day nuggets still there. Week later nuggets still there, even the ants did not eat them. They were then until the road was graded. Nothing ate them. Hint?

On the topic of things we shouldn't eat consume, how many of you eat margarine because you think its better for you than real butter?

Hint, it is one molecule away from plastic, flies won't eat it and neither will ants or other insects...

People who clearly have no clue about even the most basic of chemistry should not post as though they do. Water is just one atom away from being hydrogen peroxide, does that make it dangerous?

And the thing about chicken nuggets - exactly how is that materially different than fried chicken (hint, it's not.) If your dog won't eat that then it's because he doesn't like battered and cooked chicken.

People make such stuff up and post it as if its fact when it is nothing of the sort.

One molecule away? That is a parlour trick.

But , Hopefully many understand how many deaths margarine and aluminum have caused to the Greatest Generation.
Then there is that radon in you well water …

And surprisingly it's not common knowledge that Sodium and Calcium are Metals.

Yes, are you eating them as the element?

Not correct kschachn- Nuggets are processed, loaded with preservatives and other byproducts that are very bad for human consumption, unlike real chicken that is fried. BIG difference there bud. Not even and apple to apples comparison.

Butter and margarine are also not even close and again is another man-made chemical that mimics an edible food. Look At aspartame and saccharin, both developed in a lab and not meant for human consumption... but I'm betting you don't believe that either...

There are no preservatives in Chicken McNuggets, nor are the chickens raised with antibiotics.

Please list the byproducts they contain.

For the love of Pete!!!

Guys, don't you think we're better than "please list the byproducts in chicken McNuggets" as an actual point of contention?!?!?

I used that term and asked the question because it was stated that McNuggets are "loaded with preservatives and other byproducts". I pointed out that there are no preservatives in them and wondered what the "byproducts" were that they were "loaded" with. Typically the term byproducts is used for additives or ingredients that are not generally used for human consumption such as organ meat or offal. If someone makes the claim surely they know what they are referring to.

Pretty typical for people to make bold statements with no links or other proof, then when pressed to provide evidence the person who made the statement never responds.

A simple question is why would nuggets need preservatives when they are stored frozen before being fried?

More specifically freeze dried foods are processed at the triple point of water. Need the water to evaporate without freezing or heating the base product to maintain best food quality.

These are often the same folk that are anti-vaxers.

Science is hard. Mindless dogma on the other hand can be parroted endlessly by anybody with a voice or a keyboard and requires no knowledge whatsoever.

We are entering the golden age of stupidity where complete simpletons devoid of any knowledge on a subject will passionately espouse their mindless outrage rooted in absolute nonsense and sway millions of others into following along, sacrificing nary a century of advancement in their ironically named "progressive agenda" where stupidity and ignorance are qualities of reverence and doctors and scientists are evil tools of the corporate overlords who want everybody to be autistic.
